In April 2026, during a heat wave, parts of Guayaquil had unplanned power cuts, and local press reported appliances damaged by voltage swings when power came back. That is why the rack runs on its own circuit, with a surge suppressor that protects the equipment when power returns and a UPS that keeps it running for a limited time, depending on its battery.

April is the hottest month in Guayaquil, and the humid heat holds the rest of the year. We study the orientation of each façade so thermostats and shades get ahead of heat peaks, and we schedule the air conditioning so the house is cool by the time you usually get home.

How much does a smart home cost in Guayaquil?
Three variables set it: how many systems you want to integrate, the floor area and how far construction has progressed. The quote covers the full project: equipment, design, installation, programming, training and warranty. The first site visit and the proposal are free.
Can I start with one system and expand later?
Yes. The engineering is planned in phases: the rack keeps spare capacity and the audio is designed so zones can be added without redoing the installation. You can start, for example, with networking and lighting, and add security or a home theater later.
My project is already under construction. Is it too late?
Not while it is still at rough-in: at that stage conduit goes in without difficulty. If you are still at the drawing stage, even better, because the rack and network points are placed during design. During construction we inspect key stages with your electrician and hand over as-built plans at the end.
Do walls have to be opened to automate a finished house or apartment?
Work is kept to a minimum. We start by checking which conduit and raceways already exist and reuse them. Where they do not reach, Lutron RadioRA 3 lighting runs wirelessly from the existing boxes, and any cable still needed goes above gypsum ceilings or behind moldings. It takes longer than new construction; the finished system is the same.
If the power goes out, can I still check the cameras from my phone?
Yes, for as long as the UPS battery lasts and your internet provider keeps its service up, because the rack UPS powers the network and the cameras. Lights and air conditioning do not run on the UPS: they depend on whatever electrical backup the property has, which your electrician sizes.
How does support work once the system is installed?
Business-hours support comes with every project: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00, with remote diagnostics when the system allows it and a first response within 24 business hours. DomuLab Care plans add preventive visits. Care Plus also gives priority response, and Care Premium responds to critical incidents as soon as possible, within 24 hours at most. On Basic or Plus, if you write outside business hours, we pick it up on the next business day.
Which is better: Control4 or a consumer WiFi system?
It depends on how much you want to integrate. A consumer WiFi system works for a few devices, each with its own app. Control4 is an open platform that integrates more than 14,000 third-party devices in one interface, and it is only installed through a certified integrator. Before proposing replacements, we check whether your current equipment is compatible.
