Lutron in Ecuador:
RadioRA 3, Caséta and Athena

We install and program Lutron lighting in homes, apartments and offices in Guayaquil, Samborondón and across Ecuador. We design the circuits and the control first. Then we tune every scene on the real finishes and, when the project calls for it, integrate RadioRA 3 with Control4.

DomuLab is not an official Lutron distributor and does not hold Lutron certification. It is a certified Control4 / Snap One integrator. Lutron, RadioRA, Caséta, Athena, Clear Connect and Pico are trademarks of Lutron Electronics Co., Inc.

The Lutron systems we install and program

We work with three Lutron systems. The right one depends on the type of space, the construction stage and what you want to integrate.

RadioRA 3 · whole home

RadioRA 3 is a wireless lighting control system that Lutron specifies for professional installation. It runs on a PoE-powered processor and on Clear Connect, the radio frequency technology Lutron developed, instead of WiFi. The line includes wall keypads and Pico remotes. It is the system we integrate with Control4 in homes.

Caséta · room by room

Caséta pairs wireless dimmers with Pico remotes. A Pico remote adds a control point with no new wiring, and the Smart Hub, connected to the router, enables the app, schedules and scenes. Lutron positions it for a single room or a whole home; the site visit defines whether Caséta or RadioRA 3 fits.

Athena · commercial projects

Lutron built it for commercial lighting, wired or wireless, in new construction or large-scale retrofits. Its wireless nodes work with DALI-2 and 0–10V fixtures. The system connects to the building BMS over BACnet/IP and reports energy use and status in Lutron Dashboard. We recommend it for offices and corporate spaces.

Lutron projects: engineering before equipment

A Lutron installation is decided on the drawings: which circuit feeds each fixture, where each keypad goes and where the processor sits. We settle those decisions before installation.

  1. Brief and plans

We review your drawings or make the first visit to the space at no cost. We note how you use each room and assess the interior design and the condition of the electrical panel.

  2. Circuit and control design

We define circuits, loads and control type for each room. We check each box for a neutral wire, since some dimmers require one and others do not. For RadioRA 3 we place the processor on the drawings, because Lutron sets maximum distances to its devices.

  3. Installation and fine aiming

Our own technical team installs the system and tunes the light on the real finishes, with on-site measurements. We do not outsource installation.

  4. Programming and scenes

We program each scene and the function of every keypad button, and set up routines by schedule or occupancy. When the project includes Control4, the RadioRA 3 scenes work alongside the rest of the home.

  5. Documented handover

You receive the circuit and load diagram for each room, the programming of every keypad and a guide to operating and maintaining the system.

Finished home or new build?

Lutron works in both cases. What changes is the preparation, not the result.

Finished home

Lutron states that RadioRA 3 adapts to existing homes. We start from what is already built and fit the engineering to that base, beginning with the electrical panel.

New build

It is best to start at the drawing stage. We tell the electrical team where each box and interface goes, and we reserve the technical space. Conduit and boxes go in at rough-in, before plastering. After that, the work gets harder.

Does RadioRA 3 integrate with Control4?

Yes. Lutron documentation lists Control4 among the platforms RadioRA 3 integrates with. The same DomuLab team programs both systems.

With the integration, lighting joins the same app as climate, audio and security. The movie scene, for example, dims the lights, turns on the screen and closes the motorized shades.

What about the luminaires?

Control defines how the light is operated. Our Lighting Line defines which light is installed: lighting concept, calculation and specification, coordination with the build, supply, and scenes in Lutron or Control4. Before proposing a luminaire, we confirm it is compatible with the control system of the project.

What support do you get after handover?

Every project includes technical support Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00, with an initial response within 24 business hours. DomuLab Care plans add preventive visits, and Care Premium handles critical incidents as soon as possible, within 24 hours at most.

Frequently asked questions about Lutron in Ecuador

How does DomuLab work with Lutron?

We install and program Lutron RadioRA 3, Caséta and Athena without Lutron certification, and we are not an official Lutron distributor. Our certification is from Control4 / Snap One.

Which Lutron system fits: RadioRA 3, Caséta or Athena?

It depends on the project. RadioRA 3 controls whole-home lighting and integrates with Control4. Caséta covers individual rooms or gradual expansions with wireless dimmers and Pico remotes. Athena is built for commercial projects and connects to the building BMS. The recommendation comes out of the first site visit, which is free.

Can Lutron RadioRA 3 be installed in a finished home?

Yes. RadioRA 3 communicates by radio frequency, so its devices do not depend on a cable between them. Before proposing anything, we review the panel, the conduit and the boxes already in place to define what is reused and where new cabling is needed. In a finished home the process is longer than in new construction.

Can I control Lutron lighting from Control4?

Yes, with RadioRA 3. Lutron lists Control4 among the systems RadioRA 3 integrates with. It is the combination used in our case study, a 520 m² villa in Samborondón.

What is checked before installing Lutron dimmers?

Three points are checked. First, the dimming protocol of each fixture (0–10V, DALI or phase), to avoid dimmer mismatches. Second, the neutral wire in the box, since some models require one and others do not. Third, for RadioRA 3, the location of the processor, within range of its devices and away from WiFi access points.

Does Lutron lighting depend on WiFi or the internet?

Not for communication between its devices. RadioRA 3 and Caséta use Clear Connect, the radio frequency technology Lutron developed. The home network carries the app and the integrations. For Caséta, Lutron states that dimmers and Pico remotes keep working if the internet goes down.

Do you install motorized shades and curtains?

Yes. The ones we install are not Lutron: they are from another brand and integrate with Control4, as RadioRA 3 lighting does.

How much does a Lutron system cost in Ecuador?

It depends on the system, the number of circuits and keypads, and whether the project is new or finished. The first site visit and the proposal are free. The proposal details brands, models, quantities, schedule and recommended phases.
