IP Video Intercom & Access Control

IP video intercoms and intercom systems integrated with Control4: improve security and convenience in homes and buildings across Ecuador.

IP Video Intercom & Access Control

The doorbell has always been the first point of contact between the outside world and the home. With modern IP video intercoms, that point of contact becomes a complete layer of security, convenience and remote control that works the same whether you’re at home or traveling the world.

IP telephony and residential intercom systems have evolved radically: they’re no longer simply “the door phone with a camera.” They’re nodes integrated into the home’s automation ecosystem, with HD video, two-way audio, remote unlocking and a log of every visit.

IP video intercoms: more than a smart doorbell

When someone rings the bell, the IP video intercom does several things at once:

  1. Sends a push notification with an image to your smartphone —wherever you are
  2. Starts an HD video call so you can see and talk to the visitor
  3. Displays the video on the touchscreen in the kitchen or master bedroom
  4. Records the video clip on the NVR for future reference

You can talk to the courier, verify they are who they say they are, and open the door or the perimeter gate remotely —with a single button from the same app, from anywhere in the world.

The brands we integrate —DoorBird, 2N, Akuvox, Control4 Chime— are professional-grade devices with 4K resolution, infrared night vision, IP65 resistance for outdoors and certification to integrate natively with Control4 systems.

Internal intercoms: communication between zones without a phone

In larger homes —two or more floors, a separate social area, service quarters— internal intercoms handle communication without relying on each person’s cell phone.

From the kitchen you can call the master bedroom to say dinner is ready. From the gatehouse you can communicate with the living room or the work area. Control4’s touch panels act as high-quality intercoms with two-way audio and video if there are cameras in the zone.

This function is especially valued in homes with older adults, where a simple indoor calling system can be decisive for the family’s safety and peace of mind.

Integration with the automation system

The difference between a standalone video intercom and one integrated with Control4 is the coordination:

  • When receiving a call: the hall lights turn on automatically, the music in the social area lowers in volume, the nearest screen shows the intercom video
  • When opening the door: the “welcome” scene activates —access lights at 60%, climate adjusted, alarm system disarmed in the entry zone
  • In “Do Not Disturb” mode: the system can silence the bell and respond automatically with an audio message (“We can’t answer right now, please leave your name and we’ll get back to you”)

Access logging and recording

Every visit is logged: arrival time, image of the visitor, whether it was answered or ignored, whether the door was opened. This record is valuable not only for security but also for day-to-day management: knowing what time suppliers arrived, confirming that household staff arrived at the agreed time, or reviewing who was on the property during the week.

The video is stored on the local NVR with configurable retention (7, 14 or 30 days depending on the available disk space), with the option of automatic cloud backup for the most important recordings.

Video intercoms for residential complexes and buildings

For larger-scale projects —residential complexes, apartment buildings, offices— IP intercom systems allow each unit to have its own indoor panel connected to the entrance video intercom. The administrator can manage access, create temporary credentials for suppliers and review the entry log from a centralized platform.

We integrate 2N, Fermax and Grandstream intercom systems that meet the requirements of multifamily and corporate projects in Ecuador.

The right investment in the right spot

The IP video intercom is one of the first automation elements users adopt because the benefit is immediate and tangible: you no longer have to go down to open the door to see who it is, you no longer miss deliveries when you’re not home, and you have a record of every visit.

The recommendation is to install it together with the structured wiring, before the finishes, so the exterior video intercom is perfectly integrated into the façade and the wiring is invisible.
